Yin Yoga for the Virgo New Moon
This new moon yin yoga practice connects us to the Virgo energies, and the purity of the earth.
New Moon in Virgo
The new moon is a time to plant the seeds of our intentions for the next cycle. This month the new moon is in the humble and mentally discerning sign of Virgo.
Virgo is a mutable sign ruled by the element of the earth, and evokes the archetype of the maiden. This sign connects us to natural health, healing and the inner knowing of our bodies.
Virgo teaches us about the wisdom of purification, and asks us to care for our bodies and the vital systems of the earth. Through this sign, we understand our bodies as microcosms of the earth.
Virgo Yin Yoga Sequence
In this practice, we'll open to the new moon energies in the sign of Virgo, and create our sankalpa (intention) to guide us through this lunar cycle.
Caterpiller Pose: This posture grounds our energy into our bodies, and helps us break up stagnation in the lower digestive system through the large intestine and colon.
Butterfly Pose: This postures opens the tissue through the pelvis, and stimulates the root chakra, our primary connection to Mother Earth.
Mongoose Pose: This posture massages the side body, and stretches the gallbladder meridian that energetically supports the health of our tissue and muscles.
Modified Reclined Saddle Pose: This gentle variation stimulates the stomach and spleen meridian lines that help us transform the prana of our food into a vital energy source.
Allow your new moon intention or sankalpa to arise from your yin yoga practice. Follow the guidance of your heart to what is true for you. Did you enjoy this practice? Let me know in the comments!
